After Iconoclasm
"A contemporary investigation of the icon, abstraction and the spiritual potential of painting. My painting explores the question of what significance the image can still hold in a present where images have become omnipresent while simultaneously losing their depth and meaning. The starting point of my work is the icon – not as a historical or religious image form, but as a fundamental model of the image itself: a space of concentration, contemplation, and encounter between the visible and the invisible. I investigate how this original power of the image can be translated into a contemporary visual language. The painting is not understood as an object, but as a space of experience."
